Local music goer, “Dan” went to the Brett Dennen show at the Independent, in San Francisco. Fellow music listeners were shocked when he approached the merch table.

A nearby bystander commented “I’ve always seen those at shows, but never seen anyone walk up to one.”

One person in the crowd shouted out “Dude! Stop, I’ll burn you a copy”. But Dan continued with the transaction, much to the chagrin of the audience.

When asked why would he do such a thing, Dan stated:

“I know I could get if off Bit Torrent or something, but it felt like it was the right thing to do. Though it might have been the 5 beers I had, or wanting to impress my friends, but I liked the music and figured maybe the musician should actually get some form of compensation”

When asked the next day if he had any buyers remorse, he replied

“I listened to it a few times, and it was really good, it sounded different then it did live.”

And would he do it again?

“I’d think about it, times are tough. I spent $20 for the ticket and to spend another $10 on something I can listen to for the rest of my life, I’m not so sure…”
