Getting Started with Twitter

February 22nd, 2009 · by aaron

Bands large and small are now using Twitter to help with fan interaction and promotion.  There are of course still many people in the music world who don’t know about Twitter or how to use it. Here are some helpful links to get you started!

Last year’s CNet article “Newbie’s Guide to Twitter” provides some basic explanations, such as What is Twitter?  You can also watch a presentation on YouTube about how to set things up on Twitter and how to use it.

Heather McDonald’s About.com piece offers some good advice on what to “Tweet” about.

For more “advanced” information, MusicMarketing.com’s Your Twitter Profile and Why It Matters offers some very useful advice on creating a smart Twitter Profile.

If you are willing to commit to Twitter and put some extra time in, MusicMarketing.com’s How Musicians Can Use Twitter to Get More People to Gigs and its related comments provide some creative ideas to put into practice for promoting regional shows.

Good luck!
