What is your online video strategy?

June 29th, 2010 · by aaron

“If the first iteration of online video was about silly pet tricks on YouTube, the next wave will be about professionally produced full-length content…” according to Paul Verna, eMarketer senior analyst. “This shift will be propelled by a combination of technology integration, demographics and a growing comfort level with the idea of watching video hosted on Websites.”

As quoted in a recent article on Hypebot via eMarketer, longer, more professionally-produced video will be the next big growth area.

For independent musicians this means you need to start developing your medium and long term online video strategy now.

Are you starting to use video in your band’s marketing efforts?

So much can be learned simply by doing, so just getting started, even in an amateur mannter, will help move you up the learning curve faster once you decide to take things more seriously.  You learn about what video angles work best, sounds issues and many more items simply by trying it.  Get started.

Start researching professional video services, and start inquiring about the type of work they do or would recommend for independent musicians.  This way you will be able to start integrating these ideas into your current mid-term marketing plan.

Can’t afford professional video services?

Search online for video and media schools near you.  Many of these places will record you for free so their students can learn, and you end up with a high quality video to use for marketing purposes.

Good luck!
